Redington-Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan will be holding another H1n1 vaccine clinic on the following dates Wednesday January 6, 2010 and Monday January 11, 2010 from 4pm – 7pm, these clinics will be open to everyone. If you or a family member need to be vaccinated for the h1n1 (swine) flu this is a great opportunity to get it done. Maine-ly Elder Care strongly encourages all employees to get vaccinated. The holidays are about family and traditions, and one of my favorite holiday traditions is holiday cooking! I love cooking and enjoying the comforts of home and family at the same time. I have included a couple of my new favorite holiday recipes. If you have a sweet tooth like I do, then these recipes are for you!! Enjoy~
EASY OREO TRUFFLES
1 pkg of Oreo chocolate sandwich cookies, finely crushed
1 pkg (8oz) Cream Cheese,softened
2 pkg (8 squares each) Bakers Semi Sweet chocolate, melted
Mix 3 cups of the cookie crumbs and the cream cheese until well blended. Shape into 42 balls. Dip balls in melted chocolate; place on wax paper-covered baking sheet. Sprinkle with remaining cookie crumbs. Refrigerate 1 hour or until firm.
OREO CANDY CANE BARK
3 pkg (6oz. each) Baker’s Premium White Baking Chocolate
15 Oreo chocolate Sandwich Cookies, coarsely chopped (about 2 cups)
3 candy canes, crushed (about 1/4 cup)
Cover large baking sheet with foil; set aside. Microwave chocolate in large microwavable bowl on HIGH for 2 min. or until almost melted, stirring every 30 sec. Stir until chocolate is completely melted. Stir in chopped cookies. Spread immediately onto prepared baking sheet. Sprinkle with crushed candy canes; press candy lightly into chocolate with back of spoon. Refrigerate 4 hours or until firm. Break into pieces.

Along with Health Insurance open enrollment, we will also be having a 401 K open enrollment. Open enrollment for the 401 K program will be on Wednesday November 4th from 12:00 noon to 5:00 pm. Maine-ly Elder Care is pleased to announce that our open enrollment for our new health insurance will be Oct.15th-Nov.11th. If you would like to participate in our health insurance plan, you can contact June Thurston in HR. We will also be offering short term disability, dental, life insurance and vision. You do not have to participate in the health insurance in order to get STD, dental, life or vision. During this time period we will also be offering open enrollment for the 401 K program as well. This is exciting for Maine-ly Elder Care to be able to offer insurance for our employees!! Thanks to all employees for providing quality care to our consumers!!
Tessie Thurston- the daughter of June Thurston, Maine-ly Elder Care’s billing specialist and human resource manager, participated in the kiddie tractor pulls at the Windsor Fair. Tessie pulled over 16 feet. Way to go Tessie!!
Congratulations to Andrea Fillingim, she was the winner of our monthly drawing for PSS’s who did not call out during the month of August. Andrea was the proud recipient of a $25.00 gas card. Congrats Andrea and keep up the good work. Fifty three employees were eligible and placed into the drawing. Thank you all for the quality care you provide our consumers!!
Maine-ly Elder Care has been working diligently to find some way to offer health insurance to employees. I am happy to say that we have found a health insurance plan that will be affordable for employees. If you are interested in the health insurance plan, please inquire at the office.
